Situated in a rural and unspoilt part of the Ettrick Valley, one of the most beautiful valleys in the Scottish Borders, Laundry Cottage is situated on Howford Farm, just outside Ettrickbridge on its eastern side. The comfortable self-catering accommodation sleeps up to 6 guests.
Howford lies to the south of the Ettrick Water in an elevated position and, despite its rural setting, is within easy reach of the county town of Selkirk (6.5 miles) and is also an hour from Edinburgh and its international airport. Ettrickbridge has a good local pub, the Cross Keys Inn, serving real ale and home cooked food throughout the day and evening. There is also a tennis court, play park and sports field with cricket and football nets. Guests at Laundry Cottage have access to the Tennis Club membership free of charge and can use the sports field at any time. Both the sports club and pub are in Ettrickbridge, a 5 minute walk.
Laundry Cottage is an ideal base for those who enjoy walking, cycling and riding. For the golfer there are a number of golf courses to choose from, please read the Things To Do section. Lying within the heart of the Duke of Buccleuch’s hunt country, Selkirk is most famous for its strong equestrian tradition and The Common Riding. There are approximately 14 acres of grazing ground so we welcome guests on horse holidays and endurance riding groups. Exciting salmon and trout fishing is available on the Ettrick Water and there is very good game shooting locally. If you are visiting the Borders with your special car for a Vintage Rally, we have plenty of off-street parking in our tarmac courtyard.
The Games Barn can also be hired as a venue for various events, exhibitions and functions. It is a suitable space for short courses: pottery, art, yoga etc. Please email for further info.
